London: festive gastronomical experiences’2023

Happy New Year! Let’s review the best festive food experience in London together.

By Anna Purpurpurpur

Although in general London is not short of gastronomic experiences, it all grows even more impressive around Christmas and New Year! If you’re in London, I’d highly recommend you to have a Christmas feast during the winter season, so let me show some of the best I’ve experienced myself in 2023.

The Ivy Kensington Brasserie

You might go for the special festive menu like the Polar Bear one in the Ivy with a fantastic selection of cocktails and food for every taste. We had Duck parfait with cranberry chutney and brioche and Classic crispy Duck salad for starters, Goose&Turkey shepherd’s pie and Pan-Fried Moroccan style salmon for the mains and an absolute sweet delight as Polar Bear Christmas dessert: clementine, mandarin sorbet, white chocolate and spiced sauce.

The Carlton Tower Jumeirah

Another no-miss option is a Christmas afternoon tea. We tried an absolutely fabulous festive experience at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah with a Christmas twist on their afternoon tea. The ingredients as always go along with their ‘tribute to nature’ mindset.

Intercontinental Park Lane

One of the prettiest afternoon teas I had this season was at the Intercontinental London Park Lane. It was a very creative afternoon tea with a great selection of festive sandwiches and bites, and the delicious desserts were the starts of my Instagram page!

Pan Pacific hotel

If you’re in London with kids, don’t miss festive afternoon teas at the gorgeous Pan Pacific hotel in City: not only do they have great adult treats but a children’s version – Little Kopi Tiam – as well!

We started with a panna cotta and truffle amuse bouche which was followed by Siu Mai Basket and Buns selection while George had a set of sandwiches as part of his children’s tea. Next of course we had Scones Served with Cornish Clotted Cream, Strawberry Preserve and Marmalade. Finally, the selection of absolutely amazing festive pastries: Festive Forest, Snow Globe, Kaleidoscope and Cracker

Mandarin Oriental Carousel Bar

Knightsbridge is all glowing with Christmas lights this season: Harrods with a Valentino Christmas tree, Harvey Nichols and many individual shops are all gleaming with lights. However there’s more in this part of London: the latest addition is the Carousel Champagne. bar!

This year Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel has introduced a very original and undoubtedly festive installation: a champagne bar in a form of a merry-go-round with lights and drawings of the area around the hotel.

Sky Garden

City of London might not be the most obvious destination however it is all ready for Christmas as well. Head to Sky garden, the world famous London landmark: this year in collaboration with Moët & Chandon they launched the Sky pods bar!

You can enjoy iconic London skyline with a glass of champagne or exclusive cocktails and some nibbles, all accompanied by live music!
