During this situation with COVID-19 it didn’t seem reasonable to organize a gender reveal party for friends or baby showers but we still wanted to organize something smaller to keep memories of my pregnancy. So we decided to make a photoshoot related to revealing the gender of our baby – and this week we’ve finally made it!
To be honest, we knew the gender well in advance, but it still was so much fun. I started preparations more than a month ago, and I spent hours on Pinterest browsing different ideas for the decorations, the cake, discussing the options with the baker Natalya, our photographer Olga (the majority of photos are hers!) and ordering balloons at Balloon Monkey and smaller decorations from Amazon.
Many thanks go to one of my favourite London cafes Peggy Porschen for providing me with these customised cupcakes decorated with blue chewing balls and sprinkles (they usually do only pink ones) made especially for our gender reveal!
Additionally, we blew up a few dozen of balloons ourselves and added different small goods to keep our display more festive. And as usual, one of the best parts, if you ask me, were flowers – they really balance all the colours! It was really important to me because I didn’t want to focus on pink/blue distinction too much because gender is not a color 🙂
So many things went wrong a day before our gender reveal and on the day of the photoshoot itself but I quite like the results anyway – what do you think?
And, finally… Yes, slicing the cake was the most challenging part of all…
Yes, we’re having a boy!
P.S.: have you checked my blog about the pregnancy reveal too?
Hope you enjoyed my blog,
Yours,
Anna
